Kawaguchi City Library
The public library is a facility where you can borrow such materials as books and CDs for free.
Anyone can use the library as long as they have some form of documentation certifying their address in Japan, such as an alien registration card.
Chuo Library has a foreign-language section, and there are a number of books in foreign languages, such as English, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese and Tagalog.

Chuo Library
Monday through Friday: 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and national holidays: 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Closed: 3rd Friday of the month, during the year-end/New Year holidays and during special periods to arrange books and materials.
Community Libraries Tuesday through Friday: 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and national holidays: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Closed: Every Monday (the following day if Monday is a national holiday), the last day of each month (if the last day of the month falls on a weekend, Monday or national holiday, the library will close on the preceding Friday), during the year-end/New Year holidays, during special periods to arrange books and materials and on substitute holidays.
Shibazono Branch Library
Tuesday through Friday: 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and national holidays: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Closed: Every Monday (the following day if Monday is a national holiday), the last day of each month (if the last day of the month falls on a weekend or national holiday, the library will close on the preceding Friday), during the year-end/New Year holidays, during special periods to arrange books and materials and on substitute holidays.
Shiba-Kita Bookroom

Borrowing Books and Materials
All materials can be borrowed for up to two weeks.
Items that can be borrowed:
Up to 10 books and magazines (total of 10 items).
Up to 3 CDs, DVDs and videos (total of 3 items).
Up to 3 language CDs/cassette (total of 3 items).
Your library card can be used at any public library in the city.
Returning Books and Materials
Borrowed items may be returned to any library in Kawaguchi City.
If the library is closed, please return items by placing them in the “Book Post/Return Slot” near the entrance. Audiovisual materials, such as CDs, DVDs and videos, however, must be returned directly to a staff member at a library counter.

There are various events, such as storytelling for children and lectures and classes for the general public. At the Children’s Storytelling events, picture books, as well as famous stories and classic children’s stories are read to children. For further information, please contact your local library. |

Reservation of Books and Other Materials and Reference Services Books and other materials may be reserved in advance. Librarians also provide research and reference assistance.
