Who Must Enroll in Nursing Care Insurance?

For those 65 years of age or older (Type 1 Member): There are seven insurance premium income levels and premiums are determined according to the categorized level. Premium payment methods may also vary depending on the amount of pension received.
For those between 40 and 64 years of age (Type 2 Member): Nursing care insurance premiums are paid together with health insurance premiums. For details, please ask the particular insurer.

What Should I Do If I Need Nursing Care or Assistance?

To use nursing care services, you must apply with Kawaguchi City for authorization recognizing the need for nursing care or assistance.
Those who may apply for authorization are those 65 years of age or older (Type 1 Member), and those between 40 and 64 years of age (Type 2 Member) who are diagnosed as having a specified illness (from a list of 16 designated illnesses) due to aging.
Upon receiving authorization for “Yo-Kaigo�ENursing Care Need or “Yo-Shien�EAssistance Need, you can use nursing care insurance services according to the designated level of nursing care required. A Nursing Care Service Plan (Care Plan) is prepared, based on the authorization results, with the help of a nursing care assistance specialist (Care Manager) of home nursing care service agents. Then you can start using services based on your Nursing Care Service Plan .
