Medical Care Insurance for the Older Senior Citizen

 

Eligibility

Any person registered as a foreign resident in Kawaguchi City and is 75 years of age or older, or is between 65 and 74 years of age with a designated level of disability (you must apply and receive authorization from the regional association), and has a visa for period of stay of one year or longer or who is recognized, such as from living conditions, as being scheduled to stay in Japan for one year or longer is eligible for Medical Care Insurance for the Older Senior Citizen.

Insurance Card

You will be mailed an insurance card after enrollment. Please keep this card in a handy place. If you leave Japan or move out of Kawaguchi City, please return the card.

Insurance Premiums

Please pay your premiums at your local bank or credit union with the invoice that will be mailed to you at a later date. In addition, depending on the amount of pension you receive, your premiums may be automatically deducted from your pension.

Payment of Benefits

If you receive medical treatment for an illness or injury at a medical facility covered by this insurance, the regional federation (the insurer) will pay 70-90% of the medical cost, depending on your income. Furthermore, upon the death of the insured, an allowance is paid to the person who conducts the funeral.
